Interim Group Head of Procurement

Location: Onsite, North Cotswolds with occasional travel
Contract Type: Full-time, Interim with scope to become permanent

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Group Head of Procurement to lead and deliver a high-impact, organisation-wide procurement strategy. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving value, consistency, and operational excellence across multiple locations.

You will play a key role in enhancing overall business performance through strategic sourcing, robust supplier partnerships, and effective cost management, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a cohesive procurement strategy aligned with long-term business objectives
  • Lead category planning across a diverse range of spend areas including consumables, services, technology, utilities, and capital expenditure
  • Provide procurement expertise to support capital and refurbishment projects

Procurement Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation, purchasing, and contract negotiation
  • Drive consistency, compliance, and best practice across all procurement activities
  • Support project delivery by ensuring procurement timelines, budgets, and specifications are met

Cost & Financial Management

  • Identify and deliver cost optimisation opportunities while maintaining quality standards
  • Analyse spend data and performance metrics to inform strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with finance and senior stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
  • Ensure pricing consistency and contract compliance across all locations

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative supplier relationships
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and performance review frameworks
  • Manage supply chain risk, ensuring ethical sourcing and regulatory compliance
  • Implement robust supplier governance, including due diligence and performance management
  • Drive continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives

Stakeholder Engagement & Culture

  • Partner with senior leaders and operational teams to align procurement with business needs
  • Promote procurement best practice through effective communication and training
  • Champion sustainability initiatives, reducing environmental impact through responsible sourcing
  • Support the introduction of innovative and eco-conscious products and services

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role within a multi-site or complex environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings and value creation
  • Skilled in supplier negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement
  • Data-driven with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
  • Passionate about sustainability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
