Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Finance Assistant with exceptional technical / IT skills to work alongside the Finance Manager for a rapidly expanding company in Bristol.
This is a critical role due to record levels of business growth, and it is hoped that the successful candidate will develop the role and the finance processes / systems further.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day “engine room” of the business’s finances while working closely with all areas of the business to understand relationships with suppliers and customers.
A key priority for this role is the modernisation of the finance workflows through improved system integration and the adoption of automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Processing
- Full responsibility for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accurate coding and matching
- Reconciling supplier invoices to services provided, analysing large data sets
- Querying supplier invoices to ensure accuracy before payment
- Perform bank reconciliations and expenses payments
Credit Control and Customer Management
- Following credit control process to encourage customers to make timely payment
- Sending out reminders and follow up emails / calls
- Placing accounts on stop when necessary, working with the customer service team to ensure resolution
System Integration and Process Modernisation
- Manage and optimise the integration between the in-house CRM system, and newly embedded SAGE 200 accounting software to ensure seamless data flow and accuracy
Trial Balance and Reporting
- Assist with the General Ledger, month-end journals, accruals, and depreciation
- Provide accurate reporting information to the Finance Manager and Directors
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Proven experience in an accounts role, ideally gained within an SME organisation within a service led industry
- Technical Ability: Strong attention to detail gained within a high-volume transaction processing role
- Qualifications: Ideally AAT level 3 or similar
- System knowledge: Advanced Microsoft Excel and Sage 200 skills are essential
