Claims Handler

Do you have legal or insurance claims experience or an interest in starting a career in claims?

Our client, an award-winning international law firm, is looking for a Claims Handler to join their growing Legal Support team that handles claims made against professionals.  Acting on behalf of leading insurers, the Claims Handler will handle these Professional Indemnity (PI) claims for pre-litigated matters from first notification of loss to settlement.  Managing a caseload will include reviewing and investigating cover, assisting insured professionals, responding to claims, and reporting to insurers.

Key duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Reviewing insurance policy terms, identifying, investigating, and reporting potential issues to insurers
  • Assisting insured professionals in taking details of their claim, advising at an early stage whether settlement is likely and to what value, and supporting them throughout
  • Managing a caseload to avoid unnecessary litigation and ensure resolution
  • Negotiating settlement of claims, working efficiently, commercially, and in line with delegated authority
  • Maintaining and ensuring the completeness, accuracy, quality, and integrity of data on the case management system
  • Understanding insurer requirements and adhering to their SLAs
  • Meeting KPIs around service delivery, quality assurance, and caseload management
  • Supporting monthly and ad hob reporting to insurers

Due to the nature of this Claims Handler role, previous experience in claims within an insurance/legal environment or a genuine interest in moving into claims is required.  An associated legal qualification i.e. LLB Law, GDL, ACII, CILEx, or equivalent would also be ideal.
