The team at Pear Tree Recruitment have supported Jessie May for over 6 years with various fundraising initiatives.  We are now proud to be recruiting a Bereavement Coordinator to join their amazing team.

Jessie May provides a hospice at home service across the South West to over 300 children with life-limiting conditions.  Following the retirement of their Bereavement Team Leader, they have created the new role of Bereavement Coordinator to shape and coordinate the bereavement service moving forwards and to provide support to bereaved families alongside the specialist palliative care and family engagement teams.

The Bereavement Coordinator is an essential role – leading the bereavement team, continually reviewing the bereavement service offer, and ensuring timely support to new and existing families at all stages of their child’s journey in life, in death, and in bereavement.  The work will involve finding appropriate ways to support families with their feelings and their grief, so an understanding of death and dying is required along with a high level of emotional intelligence and sensitivity.

This role would suit someone who has experience in bereavement support work or children’s palliative care.  Other skills that will be considered favourably could include counselling, service development and delivery, and team leadership.  The successful applicant will need to be empathetic and approachable, as well as highly organised with a ‘can-do’ attitude.  Please note, some travel will be required to meet with families in their homes, so access to a car is required.

If this amazing charity sounds like one you would love to be part of, please get in touch or apply.  Interviews will be taking place over the next few weeks, to start ASAP.
